Structural Interventions for HIV Prevention and Care: A Virtual Institute Promo

Structural interventions for HIV Prevention and Care: A Virtual Institute

The purpose of the structural intervention (SI) institute is to provide health jurisdictions in the west geographic region of the United States (U.S.) with information and examples of structural interventions related to HIV prevention and care.  SIs locate the source of public-health issues in factors related to the social, economic, and political environments that shape and constrain individual, community, and societal health outcomes (Blankenship et al., 2000)1.  This institute will provide staff from health departments, community-based organizations, and other community partners with knowledge of how structural interventions operate to address the environmental, social, and economic factors that influence individual risk and protective behaviors.

Presentations will include examples of structural interventions currently, or recently, implemented in the U.S. that have improved health outcomes related to HIV prevention and care. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to network with their regional peers on implementing structural interventions that are aligned with the National HIV/AIDS Strategy 2022 – 2025 and the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. initiative. Participants of this Institute will leave with an increased understanding of how they can implement and oversee structural interventions in their local health jurisdictions.

June 28 and 29, 2022 from 9am to 1pm Pacific Time

Attendance on both days is highly recommended! Come prepared to participate in this exciting event.
