Pacific AETC – Nevada (Pacific AETC – NV), located at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, coordinates and conducts ongoing health professional education regarding HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted diseases. Lectures, webinars, workshops, and conferences, such as the well-regarded annual Autumn Update in the Lake Tahoe region, assure that clinicians and HIV care team members remain current regarding the latest science and clinical care for patients with HIV. Clinical preceptorships allow healthcare professionals to gain practical knowledge in providing quality, compassionate HIV care. Faculty possess expertise and years of practical experience in HIV care. Pacific AETC – Nevada also provides technical assistance and capacity-building guidance to encourage clinics and healthcare facilities in Nevada to conduct HIV testing and to develop and enhance healthcare services in the community. The main office for Pacific AETC – Nevada is located in Reno, and programs are offered statewide.

- Ending the HIV Epidemic in Nevada
- Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE): A Plan for America, acts boldly on this unprecedented opportunity by providing the hardest hit communities with the additional expertise, technology, and resources required to address the HIV epidemic in their communities. Our efforts will focus on four key strategies that together can end the HIV epidemic in the U.S.: 1) Diagnose, 2) Treat, 3) Protect, and 4) Respond.The State of Nevada partnered with the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) –Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center -Nevada to conduct a rapid planning process that engages the community, HIV planning bodies, HIV prevention and care providers, and other partners in aligning resources and activities to develop jurisdictional End the HIV Epidemic plans.

- HIV Prevention Program staff coordinates its efforts in collaboration with the local health districts, HIV Prevention Planning Groups, HIV-infected and affected communities, state and local HIV prevention providers, and other concerned and committed citizens to improve HIV Prevention service delivery in Nevada.

- The Pacific AETC – Nevada serves the educational needs of Nevada’s healthcare providers and organizations who provide care and prevention services in the areas of HIV, Hepatitis C, STIs, and related content. Educational modalities include a range of lectures and interactive presentations and workshops led by expert faculty. Healthcare professionals can learn best practices or receive an update on the latest treatment approaches. The Pacific AETC – Nevada now also offers clinical trainings. Providers enrolled in the clinical preceptorship program will have the opportunity to shadow or work directly with HIV and STI specialists in a variety of clinical environments in Las Vegas. The Pacific AETC – Nevada works directly with these partner sites to tailor programming to suit a participant’s specific educational needs.
- HIV/STI Screening Toolkit for Nevada Providers
- This toolkit consists of resources regarding Nevada’s 2021 Senate Bill 211 (SB211) HIV/STI testing mandate, including the guidance from the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center–Nevada (Pacific AETC– NV), Nevada’s Administrative Code Chapter 441–A for communicable disease, CDC’s laboratory HIV testing algorithm, and more.
- Pacific AETC-NV E-Learning Portal for Online Learning
- The Pacific AETC-NV offers engaging and interactive online learning opportunities to increase healthcare providers’ knowledge and awareness of HIV and STI-related health topics. Online and on-demand programming offer an alternative to in-person sessions for busy healthcare professionals.
