New Webinar: Caring For Our Own – LGBTQIA+ Providers Providing Care (June 30, 2021)

This is the fifth event in the MidAtlantic AETC’s summer virtual event series focusing on the LGBTQIA+ communities. These 90 minute zoom sessions on Wednesdays in June, July, and August will explore provider self-care, trauma, stigma, HIV, and race in LGBTQIA+ communities and LGBTQIA+ identifying healthcare professionals. Other featured topics will include HIV prevention and LGBTQIA+ competency in healthcare settings.

As a result of attending, participants will be able to:

  • Describe unique elements of boundary setting and confidentiality required by LGBTQIA+ clinicians caring for LGBTQIA+ community members;
  • List best practices for culturally competent LGBTQIA+ patient care;
  • Discuss the psycho-social aspects of LGBTQIA+ care;
  • Describe how to create a comfortable environment and the components of that environment
