PrEP Ready! Community of Practice
Increasing HIV PrEP uptake in jurisdictions with the highest burden of HIV is an essential objective of Strategy 3 (Prevent) in the Ending the HIV Epidemics (EHE) Plan for America. The Pacific AIDS Education & Training Center (Pacific AETC) is funded by the Bureau of Primary Health Care to provide technical assistance and capacity building for FQHCs in the Pacific Region who receive Primary Care HIV Prevention awards as part of their Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Initiative.
Pacific AETC convenes a community of practice (CoP) called PrEP Ready! Community of Practice – a virtual quarterly gathering of FQHCs in EHE jurisdictions to expand and enhance their ability to offer responsive PrEP services centered in fair resource allocation. PrEP Ready! CoP holds four sessions each fiscal year (July-June). Topics for each session are based on annual literature reviews conducted to assess the needs of EHE jurisdictions. Sessions are aimed towards the entire HIV PrEP healthcare team, including leaders and managers, outreach specialists, clinicians, health navigators, social workers, case managers, and pharmacists.
PrEP Ready! CoP sessions are structured to include a brief introduction ice breaker exercise and an interactive presentation from subject matter experts (60-80 min). Participants will then be introduced to a PrEP implementation organization worksheet based on the session topic designed to assist in the assessment and development of their PrEP programs, followed by a small group breakout peer discussion on the session topic (15-20 min), and ending in a report back of key takeaways from participants.
If you’re an FQHC who provides services to communities in an EHE jurisdiction in Arizona, California, or Nevada, and would like to participate in future PrEP Ready! CoP sessions, please email brian.abascal@ucsf.edu.
PrEP Ready! Organizational Worksheets
For each session topic, Pacific AETC creates an organizational worksheet for FQHCs. Each worksheet is a synthesis of the information, strategies, and best practices that were discussed by the subject matter experts presenting for the session, with sections for clinics to complete that will help them retain, plan, and implement that information into practice. All our worksheets are available to the public.

While PrEP Ready! CoP session are only open to FQHCs in EHE jurisdictions in the Pacific Region, we believe all healthcare organizations offering PrEP can find the materials developed useful. Below is a list of past session with registration links to view the archived recordings, slides, PrEP implementation tools, and other materials developed for each session.
