Upcoming Webinar: Black Transgender Women, Health Equity, and HIV (August 25, 2021)

This is an event in the MidAtlantic AETC’s summer virtual event series focusing on the LGBTQIA+ communities. These 90 minute zoom sessions on Wednesdays in June, July, and August will explore provider self-care, trauma, stigma, HIV, and race in LGBTQIA+ communities and LGBTQIA+ identifying healthcare professionals. Other featured topics will include HIV prevention and LGBTQIA+ competency in healthcare settings.

Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Identify some of the many groundbreaking transgender black women of history and how their impact continues today
  • List HIV risks and other health challenges for black transgender women related to health equity
  • Describe ways to advocate for health equity and improve care for transgender patients
