Join NAHEWD for a free, monthly Brunch & Learn webinar series. Each session will highlight an innovative model and approach to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV.

Integration of opioid use disorder and HIV treatment among persons involved in the justice system is not only smart, it is the right things to do!

  • Understand the changing epidemiology of opioid and other substance use disorders in the United States and its relevance to those being released from prison and jail.
  • Understand the impact of opioid and other substance use on HIV epidemics in the United States.
  • Understand the importance of screening & diagnosis of opioid use disorder and initiation of FDA approved medication treatments for opioid use disorder in prisons and jails prior to release to the community, including use of newer long-acting injectable formulations of medication treatment of opioid use disorder as a way to reduce overdose deaths and to prevent and treat HIV.
