SAMHSA logoSAMHSA’s first-ever LGBTQI+ Family Support grant notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) has been posted! This exciting new program aligns with SAMHSA’s work to reduce behavioral health inequities and improve the lives of LGBTQI+ youth and their families. Grant applications are due by July 3, 2023.

Description

The purpose of this program is to prevent health and behavioral health risks (e.g., suicide, depression, homelessness, drug use, HIV) and to promote well-being for LGBTQI+ youth in the context of their families/caregivers, cultures, and communities by establishing LGBTQI+ family counseling and support programs and training providers on family counseling and support interventions.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are States and Territories (American Samoa, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands), including the District of Columbia; political subdivisions of States (i.e. county, city, state); Indian tribes, or tribal organizations (as such terms are defined in section 5304 of title 25); health facilities, or programs operated by or in accordance with a contract or award with the Indian Health Service; or other public or private non-profit entities.

Informational Webinar

SAMHSA will be hosting a webinar about this grant, on Friday 6/9, for potential applicants.

It is called a Pre-Application Webinar, but attendance is not required in order to apply for the grant. This is just an opportunity to learn more about the grant, but, again, not a requirement for applying. And, for anyone who misses it, it will be recorded.
