Sexually Transmitted Infections in the HIV-Infected Patient

July 29, 2016

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among HIV-infected persons are an important source of morbidity that impacts personal and public health. Effective detection of STIs includes routine assessment of sexual risk behavior and regular screening for STIs, regardless of symptoms. Treatment for STIs requires a comprehensive approach involving infected individuals and their partner(s), in order to improve individual health and reduce ongoing transmission and reinfection. This Cases on the Web (COW) activity, first published in 2012, has been extensively revised to reflect the latest STI treatment guidelines.
