Project Inform and several other community partners released the guide entitled How to Choose a Health Plan in Covered California for people living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C (HCV) and individuals considering pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The guide explains important things to consider when choosing a plan and includes information about additional benefits that might be available to help pay for the cost of health insurance. Additionally, the second publication called Covered California’s 2015 Formularies includes an analysis of the availability of HIV, HCV and PrEP drugs on each of the 10 plans’ drug formularies and how to estimate the amounts people will have to pay for their medications.
