ACA & LGBT Individuals: Delivering Culturally Competent Quality Care in Clinical Settings

This webinar will take place on May 20, 2014, 11:00am – 1:00pm (Pacific Standard Time)

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has provided millions of previously uninsured Americans with the ability to gain access to affordable, quality health care. One of the groups poised to benefit most from the ACA is the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) population. Many studies show that LGBT people are affected by a number of diseases at rates higher than other Americans, yet LGBT populations cite stigma and discrimination in health care settings as a major barrier to seeking care.

To support expanded access to quality medical care for LGBT populations, the Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy (OHAIDP), HHS will host a public webinar to present
best practices in treating LGBT clients in the clinical setting– particularly those at risk for or living with HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis.
