Mona became the PAETC Technical Advisor in July, 2014. She will focus her efforts on preparing the region for the 2015 HRSA competitive application. Mona first joined the PAETC staff in May 2001 as PAETC’s Assistant Director. In 2008 she became the Program Director, providing leadership and oversight for the 15 local performance sites throughout the four-state region. Her focus was on quality improvement projects are designed to enhance the overall management, administration, and capacity support aspects of the PAETC, leading to more focused outcomes and broadening the scope of work. Mona worked closely with other AETC regional directors, is a member of the advisory board of the AETC National Resource Center, was a member of the Program Committee of the National Alliance for HIV Education and Workforce Development (formerly the National Association of AETCs), and served on many national planning committees and work groups. Before joining the PAETC, Mona was a Program Manager with the F.J. Curry National Tuberculosis Center at UCSF, a CDC-funded model of TB excellence. She previously developed and managed occupational and environmental health and safety programs for 12 years at community health centers and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. She started her public health work in 1976 at a women’s health collective. Mona has her MPH degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
