HIV Learning Network, Teleconference This is an event of the PAETC HIV Learning Network (HIVLN). The PAETC HIVLN is a telehealth HIV mentoring, training and consultation program for rural California and Arizona clinicians managing a small number of HIV infected patients. HIVLN provides free, live, on-line mentoring and consultation sessions for participating clinicians.

Description:
This webinar is aimed towards providers of HIV testing, medical, prevention and supportive services and will review evidence-based recommendations for improving entry into and retention in care, and ART adherence for persons living with HIV infection. Specific content will be directed towards monitoring and successful intervention approaches, in addition to review of practical resources available to agencies to facilitate implementation of programs and services to promote care engagement and ART adherence.

Having coped with a lifetime of discrimination and stigma, many LGBT older adults face unique barriers to accessing sensitive and effective health care and services. This webinar will familiarize participants with the major clinical and psychosocial issues facing LGBT older adults, and will recommend ways that health centers and other health care agencies can provide culturally sensitive care in an inclusive environment to aging LGBT patients. The webinar will be led by Mark Simone-Skidmore, MD, Director, Geriatrics Education, Division of Aging, and Assistant Program Director, Harvard Geriatrics Fellowship, Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Instructor, Harvard Medical School. This webinar is the first in a three-part series on LGBT aging co-sponsored by the National LGBT Health Education Center and SAGE. The series is supported by HRSA with a grant to Fenway Community Health Center.
