Quick Reference Card for Managing Older Adults in HIVPosted: November 25th, 2013 By: Michelle Kipper
The Office of the Medical Director, New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, has posted a quick reference card for primary care clinicians on HIV in Older Adults. The card is available for download.
This card was developed to raise awareness about the high rates of co-morbid conditions that are found in the older HIV-infected population (50-65 years of age) compared with their non-HIV-infected counterparts. Chronic diseases typically associated with aging may develop earlier in life in patients with HIV. The card outlines assessments that are particularly important for older adults with HIV/AIDS.
