The Health Resources and Services Administration HIV/AIDS Bureau (HRSA/HAB) will host the first in a series of interactive informational webinars about the Affordable Care Act (ACA), “The Affordable Care Act and the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program: Eligibility 101,” on April 5, 2:30–4:00 pm ET.
This webinar will be jointly hosted with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is designed to:
• Inform HIV providers and Ryan White grantees of how the ACA helps people living with HIV/AIDS get health coverage;
• Review new Medicaid coverage options;
• Review new private coverage options;
• Outline new enrollment and eligibility verification process; and
• Provide information about Qualified Health Plans and Essential Community Providers.

2010 HIV Surveillance Report: Diagnoses of HIV Infection among Adults Aged 50 Years and Older in the United States and Dependent Areas, 2007–2010Posted: March 19th, 2013 By: Michelle Kipper
This surveillance report from CDC, indicates that in the 46 states with long-established confidential name-based HIV infection reporting, the estimated percentage of persons living with diagnosed HIV infection who were aged 50 years or older increased 14 percent, from almost 29 percent in 2007 to 33 percent in 2009. Older persons were also more likely than younger persons to be diagnosed with HIV infection late in the course of their disease.
