Los Angeles County has the largest number of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in California; many of whom are from disproportionately impacted populations including racial/ethnic minorities, homeless, incarcerated/formally incarcerated, and uninsured. University of Southern California AIDS Education and Training Center (USC AETC) emphasizes educating and training physicians, nurses, PA/NPs, and dental professionals who serve these populations. HIV oral health faulty provide oral health programs for dental professionals and primary care providers throughout the 4-state PAETC region. A team of USC AETC faculty provides clinical consultation to providers from a wide range of health care settings and is skilled in helping clinics and hospital Emergency Departments plan for implementing routine opt-out HIV testing. USC AETC has particular expertise in working with correctional facilities and homeless clinics to improve the linkage to, and quality of, HIV care. To serve the growing demand for well trained HIV expert providers, the USC AETC offers a year-long HIV Fellowships and the only HIV Correctional Fellowship in the United States.
