The University of California San Diego AETC (UCSD AETC) is housed at UCSD Health System's well-known Owen Clinic and offers a variety of training and technical assistance programs to clinicians and medical settings, such as jails, community health clinics and health care organizations on the US/Mexico border. Specialties include: capacity building assistance to health clinics wishing to be certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home, and a mini residency program designed for primary care providers who currently care for, or are interested in learning how to care for, HIV infected individuals. Trainees are mentored by the Owen Clinic’s faculty. UCSD AETC is also skilled in providing assistance in developing bi-lingual materials, guidelines and protocols for health care settings interested in routine HIV testing.
