The Nevada AIDS Education and Training Center (Nevada AETC), located at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, coordinates and conducts ongoing health professional education regarding HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis C and other infectious diseases. Lectures, webinars, workshops and conferences, such as the well-regarded annual Autumn Update in the Tahoe region, assure that clinicians and HIV care team members remain up-to-date regarding the latest science and clinical care for patients with HIV. Clinical preceptorships allow health care professionals to gain practical knowledge in providing quality, compassionate HIV care. Faculty possess expertise and years of practical experience in HIV care, including the role of nutrition. The Nevada AETC also provides technical assistance and capacity building guidance to encourage clinics and health facilities in Nevada to conduct HIV testing and to develop and enhance health care services in the community. The main office of the Nevada AETC is located in Reno, with a satellite office in Las Vegas.
